Vietnam Project

The services of the Vietnam project are free and confidential. (see translation)

The project is working in partnership with the local service providers to provide information, advice and practical assistance on welfare, housing, council tax benefit, education, employment, police, health, care in the home, transport/travel, and consumer matters including gas, electricity and telephone.

The project also supports and organises cultural and social activities such as Chinese New-year, Mid-Autumn Festival, Christmas party and Day-trips. The office in Thamesmead  provides space for  social and religious gatherings, that includes  regular table tennis section for elderly people to keep fit.

 The Centre is organised and managed by the Vietnam Project worker. The activities at the centre includes playing mah-jong, Chinese chess,  card games, watching films and news in Chinese as well as reading Chinese/Vietnamese magazines and newspapers. At lunch time a nutritious hot meal is freshly prepared costing £1.20 per head.

-         Self referral and referral by family and friends

-         Referral by organisation

-         The project office at 1 Maran Way opens thee days a weeks on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

-         The Centre for Chinese/Vietnamese Speaking Elder opens two days a week on Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 4pm. The centre is located at Limestone Walk, Thamesmead.
